Hello, I'm Roxana and I'm a proud member of the RiDC consumer panel.
I am a partially deaf hearing aid user; I communicate face to face, I lip-read, use email, text, and I also use BSL (British Sign Language). I've been a member of the RiDC panel now for about seven years. In fact, originally my sister Razia told me to sign up - literally!
Since joining the panel, I've taken part in countless projects ranging from mystery shopping supermarkets to testing products and assessing different types of public transport.
I love taking part in the research, my instructions are always very clear and if I do not understand anything I’m able to ask the researcher for some extra guidance. I have also taken part in focus groups to discuss a product or service. It’s always very nice to meet new people and share one another’s ideas and concerns about something we all use.
I live in London and enjoy going to the cinema. I use my CEA cinema card to watch films with subtitles. The CEA Card is a national card scheme developed for UK cinemas by the UK Cinema Association (UKCA). It enables a disabled cinema guest to receive a complimentary ticket for someone to go with them when they visit a participating cinema. When attending the theatre I use StageTEXT.
I really like being part of RiDC research. It’s a fantastic way of improving products and services for disabled people.
