Evri, the UK’s largest dedicated parcel delivery company, has announced a series of innovative doorstep delivery improvements specifically designed for disabled people.

This initiative, launched in partnership with disability equality charity Scope, and developed with the insight of research from RiDC, aims to transform Evri into the most accessible parcel delivery service in the country.

Since February 2023, RiDC has been providing valuable insights based on research conducted with its pan-disabled consumer panel. This research has helped Evri understand the specific needs and expectations of disabled and older individuals using parcel delivery services.

New doorstep delivery options for customers

After undertaking this research with RiDC, Evri has now introduced a range of new doorstep delivery options. These enhancements allow disabled individuals to specify their delivery preferences, such as requesting additional time to reach the door or opting for a doorbell ring instead of a knock. These customisable preferences will automatically apply to all deliveries, creating a more accommodating experience.

Collaboration

In a three-year partnership with Scope, Evri is taking significant steps toward promoting disability inclusion within the logistics sector. Scope will assist Evri in auditing its practices and implementing necessary improvements. This collaboration is aimed at fostering a more inclusive workplace for disabled employees and consumers alike. As part of this commitment, Evri will donate £125,000 to support Scope’s mission of creating an equal future for disabled individuals.

Amanda Mitchell, Executive Director of Fundraising at Scope, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “It’s only by working together that we will achieve real social change and can create an equal future for disabled people.”

Further research with RiDC

As part of Evri's ongoing commitment to disabled and older customers, RiDC is now undertaking research looking at the accessibility of their website.

Catherine Cashman, Associate Director of Research at RiDC, said:

“RiDC is very pleased to be continuing its collaboration with Evri, which began in February 2023 with research aimed at understanding the needs and expectations of disabled and older people when using parcel delivery services."

“Thanks to RiDC’s pan-disabled consumer panel, we were able to provide Evri with valuable and actionable insights which they have since taken on board. We are now embarking on further research aimed at ensuring a high level of accessibility of Evri’s website. Our research is entirely based on the direct feedback of disabled and older consumers and so provides a voice for the significant proportion of Evri’s customer base who have a disability, health condition or access need. We look forward to this latest research bringing about further improvements in the accessibility of Evri’s parcel delivery services.”
